It is good to meet other, fellow travellers on this journey through the universe of life. Even better when you can be confidant beforehand, and reassured after, that no harm will befall one. I'd never thought about issues with meeting people from an internet site - after all, I'm no longer a vulnerable child, just an impressionable adult! However, you couldn't hope to meet a more pleasant and eclectic bunch of people, all with a common interest in the Cosmos, and all with different degrees of expertise.
