Maybe the VW isn't just lit up by "shine", but by the aftereffects of a focused burst. If a jet was "fired" through it at one point, it would blast a hole and leave much residual energy, and subsequent undirected radiation from the quasar would keep it hot. I think it's important to note that much of the success of GZ (IMHO) comes from the fact that the ZooKeepers have made genuine efforts to keep the Zooites informed & imbued with a real sense of inclusion... & I thank you for that - in fact a big thank you to everyone; 'keepers, admin, mods, volunteers, professional & amateurs alike who have made this thing work, & have engendered a spirit of community which extends beyond the Science...
