Greeting from a very sunny Chicago! Several members of the Galaxy Zoo team are here this week (Steven, Chris and Bob, along with various new additions) for the Sloan Digital Sky Survey Symposium: “From Asteroids to Cosmology”.

The SDSS is the fantastic project which has provided all the images for Galaxy Zoo, along with lots of other measurements which help us to analyse and interpret the Galaxy Zoo classifications. The symposium started yesterday and runs for four days full of talks reviewing the many areas of astronomy that the SDSS has revolutionised.

Yesterday morning I presented a talk giving a brief overview of the Galaxy Zoo project, and describing the results from my recent paper “Galaxy Zoo: the independence of morphology and colour”. You can see the first slide below, and clicking on it will take you to the full presentation (6.3Mb pdf).

I also thought you might like to see a poster I presented at a workshop in Birmingham (with the great title “Semi-analytic models – are we kidding ourselves?“) a couple of months ago, which also gives a brief summary of the main findings of my Galaxy Zoo work so far (1.3Mb pdf).
