We’re now 50 hours into the 100 hours of astronomy, and we’re well on course to hit Galaxy Zoo’s target of a million galaxies in 100 hours. The Zoonometer &trade clicked over 700,000 galaxies this morning which is an incredible response to our call – but not yet good enough!

I wonder what’s the combined computational speed we harnessed? Could we be running somewhere around 10 teraflops, 10 trillion teraflops?

    3. I have got an idea! let’s not stop when we reach 1 million. We can carry on until the time is up and see how many galaxies can we classify in 100 hours.

I guess the counter will stop at 1,000,000. But the team should be able to tell us how many we got clasified over the 100 hours I assume? I think we can get 2,000,000 done. Aslong as people don’t stop trying after we hit 1 mil.

I love this whole concept and project. It has been thrilling to hear hard results published (after the first survey) and know I have contributed in a small way. Can’t wait to hear results from this survey. Congratulations to the organizers and all participants.
